This kit, actually a 3D Puzzle, is really easy to put together. It's a treat for real beginners. Just punch out (carefully!), sand a little and fit the parts, like 1-2-3!

But... left as is it won't "look" as real furniture, and this can be very disappointing. One should at least apply a layer of paint or stain the wood to a more "natural" wood shade. Another option is to follow the tutorial provided by DHB to transform the basic kit into this pretty garden/patio/porch set shown in the picture on the left!

3D wood toy bashing

This kit, which can be easily found on ebay, is a "little" more complex than the previous one. There are A LOT of small parts in it. Considering time needed to let paint and glue dry, it will take at least one week to finish it. No worries! :) If you follow DHB tutorial, you'll have a very nice shop to display in no time at all, and with lights on!

Pros:

Cons:

In general, it is a great kit, I really enjoyed putting it together! I recommend. The resulting setting really looks good. And I learned some new techniques, like making cakes using paper, felt and beads, no polymer clay or cold porcelain involved! First time for me, and I the resulting cakes are actually cute.

Kits reviews

Here is where kits available in Brazil are reviewed. Later on kits available internationally will also be reviewed. Both pros and cons are considered, and a step-by-step guide to put them together is provided. For now, those are in Portuguese only, but there are plenty of pictures so it should be easy to follow. If you have any questions, ask me.

The main goal is to help the true beginner. Kits are great for them as all the supplies are already provided. But the techniques shown can also help intermediate miniaturists bash the kits they have or even help inspire advanced artisans to create their own kits.
